MELAKA: The sanitisation of a mosque in Pengkalan Balak here is part of remedial measures being taken following the re-emergence of Covid-19 cases here, says a senior Melaka official.

Melaka health and anti-drug committee chairman Rahmad Mariman said on Friday (Aug 28) that the Fire and Rescue Department carried out the task following the detection of three new cases in the state.

"It's not because one of the mosque's congregants had contracted Covid-19 as claimed by certain quarters," he said.

According to Rahmad, the three positive Covid-19 individuals were being treated at the Melaka Hospital.

He said Alor Gajah Health Department, along with Melaka Tengah health officials and Kem Terendak Army Hospital, would also be monitoring and carrying out preventive measures.

"The authorities have also done contact tracing on the places visited by the three," he added.

Rahmad said sanitisation works were also carried out at the workplaces of the three.

The three positive Covid-19 cases have turned Alor Gajah district into a yellow zone.
