Food delivery rider seriously injured in crash identified

SUBANG JAYA: Police have identified the victim of an accident which has gone viral, involving a food delivery rider.

"We have traced the victim, who is a 20-year-old Foodpanda delivery rider, to the Putrajaya hospital. His condition is still critical, and he is still unconscious.

"The victim's motorcycle had been found at the scene of the accident. The front rim was bent and other damages were found as well. As of now, no witnesses have come forward," said Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Amihizam Abdul Shukor when contacted on Tuesday (Aug 25).

On Monday (Aug 24), a complainant told the police that his car number plate had gone viral, after posts implicated his car to a hit-and-run incident in Putra Heights.

The complainant told police that while he did see the incident in question, he was not involved. He added that he saw the victim crash into a divider which flung the motorcyclist forward.

"The complainant stopped his car to help. However, as he did so, he saw two to three people running towards the victim from a nearby convenience stall. Many other motorcyclists also came to help.

"Seeing as the victim had been surrounded with members of the public, the complainant then continued on his journey, which was to bring his child to a clinic in Main Place," he said.

He added that investigations are still underway to trace down the witnesses that had helped the victim.
