PETALING JAYA: A 26-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of having caused the death of a two-year boy.
The victim was rushed to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre accompanied by his mother at about 11.40pm on Friday (Aug 21) after he was found unconscious at his home in an apartment here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the cause of death was a severe head injury as a result of abuse.
"We managed to track down the suspect in Subang Jaya at about 12.40pm on Saturday.
"The suspect was in a vehicle at the time, and we detained him after 30 minutes of surveillance," he said when contacted on Saturday (Aug 22).
ACP Nik Ezanee added that the case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"The suspect will be remanded to facilitate the investigation.
"We are thankful to the public for assisting the police. It led to the capture of the suspect within 24 hours," ACP Nik Ezanee said.
