TAPAH: There are bound to be various views from members of political parties over Umno and PAS inviting Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to join Muafakat Nasional, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).

However the Perak Mentri Besar said what matters are decisions made by the top leadership of a party.

Ahmad was asked to comment on a statement by a political analyst Dr Achmad Dzariean Mohd Nadzri stating that Umno could reject Bersatu's move to join Muafakat Nasional if a motion is obtained from the division and branches ongoing assembly.

Faizal, who is also the Bersatu deputy president, said what was more important is that the decision to invite Bersatu is done by the top leadership of Umno and PAS.

“There are lots of members in a political party, and each one is entitled to their opinion.

“But in any organisation, the decision made by the leadership is very important for its members to adhere, ” he told a press conference after handing over “Kit Bumi Hijau” to some 120 recipients at Chenderiang near here on Friday (Aug 21).

Faizal added that the invitation to join Muafakat Nasional has also stimulated the spirits of the grassroots.

“In general, people are happy when they hear Malay-based political parties join hands.

“However, on the other hand there are also some who do not wish for it to happen due to their personal agenda and reasons, ” he added.
