Johor police seize motorcycles of six teenagers, issue summonses for 17 offences

JOHOR BARU: Police have seized the motorcycles of six teenagers and handed them summonses for performing dangerous stunts on the road in Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang here.

Johor traffic enforcement and investigation chief Supt M. Kumarasan said the boys picked up were aged from 13 to 16, adding that the summonses were issued at 5pm on Thursday (Aug 20).

"The boys were performing stunts such as the wheelie and zig zag when we hauled them up during our Ops Samseng Jalanan.

“Six summonses were issued for a total of 17 offences and we also seized five motorcycles, ” he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 21).

He said the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He added that the boys would be remanded to assist with the investigation.

Supt Kumarasan said his department had arrested 20 individuals under Ops Samseng Jalanan and 36 individuals under Ops Mabuk for drink-driving from Aug 1 to Aug 20.

He also said 14 operations were carried out under Ops Perdagangan, involving commercial vehicles where 11 investigation papers were filed.
