PUTRAJAYA: Notices will be issued to 288 former members of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and their names will be released to the media, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
Multiple defections from former party members were announced following the announcement of a new party, Pejuang, set up by ex-Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“We will issue a list to the press. My press secretary has already forwarded it to several media outlets, ” said the Bersatu secretary-general after the official promotion ceremony of Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani to Deputy Inspector-General of Police on Friday (Aug 14).
When asked if members leaving would impact the party, Hamzah said that were others applying to join Bersatu as well.
“I would like to state that they wanted to leave the party. But those who want to join don’t state so on social media. I have already received around 30,000 applications to join the party, ” he said.
Several Bersatu divisions have also announced that they would be quitting the party and disbanding.
