PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices will rise across the board from Aug 15 to Aug 21.
The Finance Ministry said that RON97 petrol would be priced at RM1.98 per litre, up five sen from RM1.93 previously.
The price of RON95 petrol will also increase by five sen from RM1.63 per litre to RM1.68 per litre, while the price of diesel will go up by three sen from RM1.79 per litre to RM1.82 per litre.
"This increase is influenced by the change in the price of refined products, in line with the current world crude oil price.
"The government will continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people," the ministry said in a statement on Friday (Aug 14).
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5,2019 under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
