RM2.5mil spent on FB ads in Sri Lanka polls


ABOUT 111 million rupees (RM2.5mil) was spent on Facebook advertising by politicians in Sri Lanka during the just concluded parliamentary elections, Makkal Osai reported.

According to a report, the spending took place between May and August. Most of the advertising came from opposition parties that could not get airtime on local broadcasts.Sajith Premadasa, who is leader of the opposition in Sri Lanka, spent about four million rupees (almost RM91,000) on 124 adverts, which is reportedly the highest amount.
