Wee dicusses challenges facing aviation sector

PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong met with Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kassim to discuss the challenges of Covid-19 on the aviation industry.

In a Facebook post, he said the latest developments in the industry were discussed at the meeting.

“The uncertainties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic continue to pose a challenge to the aviation industry but airfare prices are becoming more stable with higher demand from travellers.

“With the effort put in by various parties, we hope that the aviation industry will ride out this difficult and challenging time as the nation recovers from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Saripuddin was appointed as Mavcom chairman in May.

The meeting, which took place yesterday, was also attended by deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah.
