PETALING JAYA: Three men and a woman were detained in connection with a series of snatch thefts in the district.

Acting on an incident on July 11, where a man was robbed of his mobile phone by a snatch thief in Damansara Perdana, police began investigating the matter.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a team from Petaling Jaya CID raided a house in Kampung Sungai Penchala around 9am on Aug 5 and detained a 34-year-old man suspected of committing the crime.

"We also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used in the heist and a mobile phone.

"We believe he is also responsible for more than nine snatch theft cases in the district," he told a press conference on Tuesday (Aug 11).

Further investigations led police to discover that the man sold his stolen items to two mobile phone shops in Taman Medan.

"We raided the shops at 4pm on Aug 5 and detained two men and a woman.

"We also seized several mobile phones," he said adding that the suspects have been remanded until Aug 12.
