Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (Kedah Mentri Besar) and Juhari Bulat (Kedah assemblyman) were appointed to positions in the federal government's statutory body.
The Finance Ministry explained that the appointment of the politicians in the Minister of Finance Incorporated companies was based on their qualifications, expertise and their background which is needed by the companies to allow the board members to operate at the optimum level.
"The appointment as directors of board members of the companies had also taken into consideration the background and the capabilities of each individual from various perspectives to join as the board members of the companies," said the ministry in response to a question from Chan Foong Hin (PH-Kota Kinabalu), who asked the government to justify the appointments of politicians at various government-linked companies and statutory bodies under the Perikatan Nasional government.
The Finance Ministry said in principle, the rate of allowances and incentives eligible for the board members and chairmen vary according to the financial capabilities of each MKD company.
"The amount of remuneration and incentives paid can be obtained from the company's audited financial statements submitted to the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
"As for the Federal Statutory Body, the allowance rate is subject to the respective recommendations and approvals of its board members and minister in charge," it said.
