Dr Wee, Mavcom executive chairman Saripuddin discuss impact of Covid-19 on aviation industry

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had a meeting with Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kassim to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the aviation industry.

In a Facebook post on Monday (Aug 10), the Transport Minister said the meeting also discussed the latest developments in the industry.

“The uncertainties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic continue to pose a challenge to the aviation industry but airfare prices are becoming more stable with higher demand from travellers.

“With the effort put in by various parties, we hope that the aviation industry will ride out this difficult and challenging time as the nation recovers from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Saripuddin was appointed Mavcom chairman in May.

Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah also attended the meeting.
