PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices will drop across the board from Aug 8 to Aug 14.
The Finance Ministry said that RON97 petrol would be priced at RM1.93 per litre, down five sen from RM1.98 previously.
The price of RON95 petrol will also fall by five sen from RM1.68 per litre to RM1.63 per litre, while diesel will drop four sen from RM1.83 per litre to RM1.79 per litre.
"This reduction is due to changes in refined product prices, in line with the current trend of crude oil prices.
"The government will continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people," the ministry said in a statement on Friday (Aug 7).
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5,2019 under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
