Covid-19, Malaysia Airlines and banknotes among issues to be raised in Dewan Rakyat Thursday (Aug 6)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Temporary Measures for Government Financing (Coronavirus Disease 2019 [Covid-19]) Bill 2020 will be tabled in Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Aug 6).

The Covid-19 Bill is expected to be tabled for its first reading and passed in the current Dewan Rakyat meeting.

Also to be raised in Thursday's sitting is the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak and Kedah, the fate of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and total value of banknotes in circulation.

Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH-Bandar Kuching) will be asking Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba the status of Covid-19 cases in Kedah and Kuching.

He will raise the matter during Question Time, on measures being taken to prevent the next wave of infections and the number of screenings done to date.

Pang Hok Liong (PH-Labis) wants Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz to state the total value of banknotes issued and distributed by Bank Negara last year.

He is also asking the total value of the banknotes in circulation and in savings in the country.

Wong Ling Biu (PH-Sarikei) will be asking the Finance Minister whether the Government will dispose of Malaysia Airlines or restructure its ownership.

The Dewan Rakyat will see the resumption of Ministerial Replies on issues raised by MPs during debates on the motion of thanks on the Royal Address.

The current Dewan Rakyat meeting started on July 13 will end on Aug 27.
