Covid-19: One new case, 16 recoveries, no new deaths


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded just one new Covid-19 case on Tuesday (Aug 4), bringing the total number of infections to 9,002 cases.

The sole case was a local transmission detected in Perlis, said Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Tuesday (Aug 4).

He also said 16 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, with 8,684 patients now having been discharged since Covid-19 outbreak began or a 96.5% recovery rate.

The sole case was detected via screening for those who have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

There are currently 193 active cases that are being treated at the country’s health facilities.

Currently, no patients are being treated at the intensive care units (ICU) or need ventilator support.

There were no deaths reported on Tuesday, with the death toll staying at 125 or 1.39% of all cases.
