TWENTY-EIGHT Tamil schools in Penang have not received exercise books needed by the pupils this year, Makkal Osai reported.
Parents said four exercise books have not been sent to Tamil schools in the state. The parents, who declined to be named, said the delay was already a problem before the school holidays in early March and the prolonged closure due to the movement control order.
Even after schools reopened on July 22, the books were still not delivered, they said.
The parents urged the Education Ministry and the state Education Department to urgently look into the matter.
> The daily also reported that a man in the state of Telangana, India, passed an exam after 33 years of trying, thanks to the pandemic.
Nuruddin, 51, from Hyderabad, had been trying to pass an English Language subject paper for the 10th Class exam (equivalent to Malaysia’s PT3) that he failed in 1987.
He sat for the exam every year, but the state cancelled the exam this year due to the pandemic and gave an automatic pass to all the students registered for the exam.
