KOTA KINABALU: Party leaders who support the Perikatan Nasional coalition must share the same spirit and be united when preparing for the coming state polls, says Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Sabah information chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar (pic).
He said that the statement by Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor that the party was planning to contest 45 seats in the state election was Hajiji’s suggestion, and he added that Hajiji has the right to voice his thoughts.
Khairul added that Hajiji's comment that Sabah Bersatu was willing to sit down and hold discussions with Perikatan component parties on the matter shows his openness to explore various possibilities.
“We should not be quick to criticise or be triggered by a person’s thoughts or statements issued with regard to this matter, ” he said in a statement Saturday (Aug 1).
Khairul said component parties should also refrain from giving out statements that could break the coalition and spirit of political cooperation.
“In a democracy, every leader has the right to voice their thoughts and suggestions. In the end, all these suggestions will be discussed and fine-tuned, ” he said.
He said the main objective for every suggestion was to ensure that they win in the coming snap polls.
“Friction among ourselves would only allow more opportunities for our opponents to bring us down, ” Khairul said.
He said political leaders of the same coalition must be open to suggestions for the best outcome.
