IPOH: The Perak Fire and Rescue Department will sanitise all hotels and homestays in the Slim constituency before the by-election.

Its director Aziz Osman said premises in Tanjung Malim, Slim River and Bidor would be sanitised next week.

“We also will advise premises owners on how to keep their places sanitised, ” he said during a Hari Raya Haji programme at the Meru Raya fire station here yesterday.

“We are expecting a lot of people to be there for the by-election and we want to ensure their safety, ” he said of the polls set for Aug 29, with nomination day on Aug 15.

The Slim state seat was left vacant after the death of its incumbent Datuk Mohd Kushairi Abdul Talib on July 15.

Separately, Aziz said people could forward information related to Covid-19 to them to take necessary action to sanitise premises.

“If there are places that we are not aware of, we hope the people will let us know. We are always prepared to take action, ” he added.

Aziz also said they already sanitised premises said to have been visited by a “person under surveillance” who wore a pink tag.

“We only received information of four to five locations, including the food court near Perak Stadium and Mydin hypermarket in Meru Raya, ” he said.
