SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan PKR says it welcomes the party's decision to claim RM10mil each from the 20 former wakil rakyat who have "jumped ship", adding that the money would come in handy to fund its programmes for the next general election.

Mentri Besar and PKR state chief Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic) said the addition of RM200mil in its coffers would enable PKR to face the next polls comfortably.

"We, in Negri Sembilan PKR, more than welcome PKR's move to file the claim.

"God willing, the party is successful in getting the monies," he told reporters after chairing

the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (July 29).

Earlier today, PKR treasurer general Lee Chean Chung said the party had instructed its legal team to issue letters of demand to the 10 members of parliament and 10 state assemblymen for defecting.

Lee said the party had the right to make the claim as those elected as wakil rakyat in the last general elections had agreed to pay the amount if they defected or appropriated the seat for their own personal benefit and use it against the interest of the party.

He said the former PKR wakil rakyat would be required to pay the amount within seven days of getting the letter of demand, failing which legal action can could be taken against them.

All PKR members who contested in the last polls were required to sign a document to that effect before then party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
