MELAKA: Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali (pic) is prepared to face any eventuality if Parliament is dissolved.
“I will execute my responsibility to take care of the people until the time arrives for me to relinquish my post if there is a dissolution,” he told the Melaka state assembly Wednesday (July 22).
Sulaiman added that the assemblymen should focus on serving the people, instead of demanding for the dissolution of the state assembly.
“We must carry out our duties as the mandate has already been given by the people as long as the legislative assembly is still in session.
“We leave it to the people to choose their government (once the state assembly has been dissolved) without demanding for its dissolution,” he said in his winding-up speech on the motion of thanks to the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka.
Earlier, during the debate session, Opposition lawmakers including Adly Zahari (Amanah-Bukit Katil), Low Chee Leong (DAP-Kota Laksamana) and Alex Seah (DAP-Kesidang) asked for the state assembly to be dissolved to pave the way for an election.
Sulaiman said as a responsible Chief Minister, he has been giving attention to proposals, even those submitted by the Opposition.
"I will also continue with the valuable policies of the previous administration" he said.
