Low devised plan to embezzle money from 1MDB, court told

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court was told that a plan was devised by fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho (pic) and several others in a plot to embezzle money from sovereign wealth fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The defence in the 1MDB trial involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak suggested that this plan was purportedly concocted in a meeting held outside of Malaysia. Apart from Low, better known as Jho Low, the meeting was allegedly attended by former Goldman Sachs bankers Tim Leissner and Roger Ng, 1MBD’s deputy chief financial officer Terence Geh and general counsel Jasmine Loo, as well as former CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi.
