THE Covid-19 pandemic has generated new practices for meetings and conventions.
The world’s first-ever open-air drive-in entrepreneurship seminar will be held at the Sepang International Circuit on July 19.
“Because of social distancing, we need a space twice the size of the original venue for this conference which we anticipate will be attended by 10,000 people,” said Datuk Dr Calvin Khiu, founder of the Outstanding Entrepreneurs (OE) School for Entrepreneurs.
”Since Malaysia is about to have its first drive-in cinema, we thought, why not hold a drive-in conference as well?
“Besides catering to participants who choose to follow the proceedings online, those who opt to be present will get to try a new seminar experience,” he said.
At the conference, Khiu will share his “triple-win” business strategy.
He said his previous seminars garnered thousands of participants each time.
On April 11 when the movement control order was in force, his online seminar in Chinese on Business after the Pandemic: Restructuring attracted 10,000 participants before the broadcast began at 8pm.
During the one-hour 30 minute-session, the number of participants peaked at 20,100 and set a new record for online learning among the Chinese-educated community.
“As a corporate mentor, we encourage our students to be innovative and brave in facing new challenges.
“The drive-in seminar shows how we can break away from the norm.
“This is a new trend for mass gatherings as it combines online and offline elements,” said Khiu.
The upcoming drive-in and online entrepreneurship seminar at Sepang on July 19 is from 7.30pm to 10pm.
