Pupil, 12, falls down stairs, breaks arm in five places

GEORGE TOWN: A 12-year-old pupil who slipped and fell from the stairs on the third floor of her flat is reported to be in stable condition.

Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz, who visited her at Penang Hospital, said the pupil broke her left arm in five places and could have injured one of her kidneys.

“I visited the girl, who was with her mother and several Welfare Department (JKM) officers, to provide immediate assistance, as well as to obtain information on her condition.

“The girl is now conscious and there are no other injuries.

“Hopefully, she will get well soon, ” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 16).

The girl slipped from the stairs on the third floor of her flat in Teluk Kumbar on Wednesday (July 15) at around 7.10am as she was getting ready to go to school.

She was brought to the Balik Pulau Hospital by an ambulance before being sent to Penang Hospital for further treatment at around 10.30am on the same day.
