Missing domestic helper allegedly steals RM64,000 cash from head nurse

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A head nurse lost around RM64,000 in cash after it was allegedly stolen by her Indonesian domestic helper at her house in Horizon Hill here Wednesday (July 15).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 55-year-old victim only knew about the incident after her 28-year-old daughter notified her at about 11am.

"The victim, who was working in Melaka, had hurried home at about 3pm and inspected her room.

"Upon inspection, her personal belongings and cash stored inside a drawer had gone and the domestic helper, known as Darmi, was no longer in her room and is believed to have run away," he said in a statement here Thursday (July 16).

The stolen cash includes RM8,000, SG$5,000 (RM15,341) and £7,500 (RM40,218).

He added that the suspect had worked with the victim for almost two years.

“We are currently awaiting CCTV footage that is installed inside the house to help with investigations, ” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 381 of the Penal Code.
