MELAKA: A bridegroom-to be has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to committing four counts of incest with his sister since 2014.
The alleged victim is now a 17-year-old Form Five student.
The plea of the accused, a 26-year-old security guard, was recorded before judge Norma Ismail on Tuesday (July 14).
According to the facts of the case, the accused allegedly committed the four offences against his sister at their family home in Kampung Rim, Jasin, between June 2014 and March 2018, and May 2019 and April 2020.
The offence is punishable under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years' jail and whipping upon conviction.
The accused also faced a separate charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine or whipping, or any of the two punishments if found guilty.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mazuin Hashim prosecuted.
In mitigation, the accused – the eldest of four siblings – appealed to the court to grant him bail, saying that he would be getting married this weekend.
The court granted bail of RM10,000 and fixed Aug 17 for re-mention.
The accused, who was unrepresented, posted bail.
