PETALING JAYA: The Bench of the nation's top court is now dominated by women following the appointment of Datuk Mary Lim Thiam Suan and Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang as Federal Court judges.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said it was a great achievement for the fairer sex as eight out of the 14 Federal Court judges are women.

"History has been created as more than half of the Federal Court judges are women," she said in statement on Saturday (July 11).

She expressed confidence that justice for oppressed women and children would prevail.

"I also hope appropriate action is taken in cases involving domestic violence and sexual offences.

"Let's pray the newly-appointed judges are blessed with the strength and resolve to discharge the duty entrusted upon them," said Zuraida.
