BUKIT MERTAJAM: Upset that her mother couldn't return home from Singapore to celebrate her puberty ceremony, a 15-year-old girl fell to her death from the 11th floor of a flat here.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad (pic) said police received a call from the public at 1.57pm saying that a girl had fallen from the flat.

“Initial investigations found that the victim is a 15-year-old, who has a younger sister.

“The victim’s father works in a hotel in Penang while her mother works in Singapore.

“She and her sister stayed with their aunt and uncle in the flat here.

“According to her family members, it is understood that the girl was a sensitive person.

“A puberty ceremony was supposed to be held in the near future but was cancelled as her mother could not return from Singapore.

“The victim had apparently seemed sad and according to her family members, she did not have any other problems, ” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 9).

ACP Shafee added that the body has been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.
