PETALING JAYA: Umno will resume its branch and division meetings nationwide after it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (pic) said the decision was made during the party's supreme council meeting on July 6 which is in line with the approval given by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
He said the Umno, Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings can hold their branch meetings between July 5 to Aug 31 while the division meetings can be held between Sept 15 to Oct 31.
"The total number of attendance is subject to the current SOP issued by the government from time to time," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 7).
It was reported that the government has allowed all organisations, including political parties, sports bodies and corporations to hold their annual general meeting (AGM) from July 1, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The government had imposed the MCO from March 18 before announcing the recovery MCO phase from June 10 to Aug 31.
Ahmad Maslan said that the attendance of the meetings must not exceed 250 members.
"The full SOP can be checked at the RoS official website," he added.
He also noted that the annual state Umno convention can be held between Nov 1 until Nov 23.
"However, states that have completed their division meetings can also organise their state annual convention earlier," he said, adding that the number of participants will be subject to the SOP set by the government.
Meanwhile, the party also set Nov 25 to 28 for its annual general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
