KOTA KINABALU: A land dispute between 2,000 smallholders in Lahad Datu is heading for a solution amid questions over legal disputes surrounding Sabah’s move to take over the land 12 years ago.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said that state-owned Sawit Kinabalu would return 6,800ha of land to an estimated 2,000 smallholders through a compensation deal where 18,000ha of land would be provided to Sawit Kinabalu elsewhere.
