KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of five people in less than 24 hours.

Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) head Asst Comm Adnan Azizon said police first arrested a 28-year-old woman at a parking lot in a residential area on Jalan Ipoh on Friday (June 26) around 9.40pm.

"Acting on intel, we arrested the woman and also found about 10g of what we believe to be ganja.

"She had a clean record and also tested negative for drugs," he said.

The woman then led police to a house on Jalan Ipoh where they arrested two men, aged 18 and 28, around 10pm the same day.

Police found the duo with various drugs weighing over 940g in total and estimated to be worth RM91,262.

They also found jewellery believed to be valued at about RM8,000 and RM17,566 in cash.

"We believe the drugs were ecstasy pills, MDMA powder, ketamin, ganja and Erimin 5 pills," ACP Adnan said.

Police also seized two cars in the raid and the trio was arrested and remanded until July 3.

When questioned, the trio led police to arrest a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old Korean woman at a house in Batu Caves on Saturday (June 28) at 3.45am.

There, police found substances believed to be ketamin weighing about 275g and about 52g of MDMA powder estimated to be worth RM46,334.

"The man and woman have been married since 2017 and we believe the husband is the mastermind of the group," he said, adding the couple also tested negative for drugs and had a clean record.

The couple were also found with RM61,000 in cash, jewellery estimated to be worth RM17,400 and a multipurpose vehicle, all which were seized by police.

The couple has been remanded until July 3 and all five are being investigated for drug trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

ACP Adnan estimated that the seized drugs could have been supplied to over 1,100 users in the Klang Valley.

"They have been operating for about a year and we believe with their arrest, we have brought down yet another drug syndicate," he said.
