KUANTAN: Early voters in the Chini by-election, comprising 18 police personnel, will be casting their ballots using the new normal practices on Tuesday (June 30).
Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said throughout the process, Covid-19 prevention guidelines would be enforced, including social distancing, wearing of face masks, the usage of sanitiser and gloves, as well as body temperature checks.
Early voting will be held at the Chini police station from 8am until noon.
The process would be monitored by agents of the candidates, as well as observers appointed by the EC, said Azhar in a statement Monday (June 29).
The EC will also be live-streaming the early voting process on its Facebook page.
After early voting ends, the ballot boxes will be kept in the police lockup before being taken to the Paloh Hinai police station for counting on July 4.
A total of 20,990 voters are eligible to vote in the Chini by-election.
