KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Hajiji Noor has ordered all party division chiefs to be prepared for the possibility of a snap general election.
Speaking after chairing the Tuaran Bersatu division committee meeting, he said all Sabah Bersatu divisions must start mobilising their election machinery throughout the state.
He said that Sabah Bersatu must be fully prepared in case of a snap election, and will be giving its full cooperation to all Perikatan Nasional partners, including PBS, PBRS, STAR, Umno and MCA.
"Although there has yet to be any confirmation on whether there will be an election in the near future or not, Bersatu must always be prepared to face any political challenges, including the possibility of a snap election.
"I urge all Bersatu chiefs in the state to start mobilising their campaign machineries ahead of time, so that in the event that a snap election is called, we are already in full swing and fully prepared to gain a fresh mandate from the rakyat to lead the country."
According to Hajiji, all party branches in the state must play their part in increasing the party's membership, especially in the grassroots level to ensure Perikatan, under the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is reaffirmed and receives full mandate from the people.
"We have seen how well the federal government under the leadership of Muhyiddin handling the Covid-19 pandemic, where our country has been widely praised by the rest of the world for our efficiency and success in mitigating the pandemic, to the point where we have already entered the recovery phase of our movement control order.
"All this was done despite our country going through a change of government, and this is concrete evidence Muhyiddin and Perikatan’s ability to carry and rebuild our nation, especially from the aftermath of the global pandemic," he said.
