PETALING JAYA: Police and National Anti Drug Agency (AADK) personnel arrested 104 suspected drug addicts in a joint operation, says Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.
"In total, we checked 53 people and arrested 39, while the AADK arrested 65 suspects," he said on Thursday (June 18).
He added that 3.22kg of ganja, 9,000ml of ketum liquid, 7.62g of syabu, 112.1g of heroin, 1.8g of ketamine and 0.5g of Erimin 5 were seized in the operation.
"Five cases were classified as drug supply and 11 as drug possession, while 20 (suspects) tested positive for drugs and two were arrested under the Special Preventive Measures 1985, ” he said.
He said that 108 police personnel and 70 AADK personnel were involved in the eight-hour operation which began at 8pm on Wednesday(June 17).
"The operations were focused on Desa Mentari, Taman Dato Harun and the Taman Medan area, ” said ACP Nik Ezanee, adding that the police managed to uncover a drug haunt at an abandoned flat in Desa Mentari.
He said that drug paraphernalia and lighters were found at the scene, adding that the suspects even illegally connected electricity supply to the unit.
According to ACP Nik Ezanee, when the police knocked on the door of another unit where a suspected drug addict was staying, they were met by his angry father who handed him over to the police and scolded him for bringing shame to the family.
The man also told police to look for his son's friends.
The operation was conducted following surveillance of the area by th epolice and AADK over a two-week period
"We believe our message is clear. We will not compromise on the drug menace here," ACP Nik Azanee said.
