KAJANG: Police have crippled a heavily armed drug distribution ring with the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 2.3kg of syabu.
Police also seized several shotguns and pistols in the operations.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said a team from the Kajang Narcotic Crime Investigation Department arrested the two suspects, aged 42 and 43, at the Sungai Chua area at around 7.30pm on Sunday (June 14).
"Following the arrests, we raided a serviced apartment in Subang Jaya and seized four shotgun and two pistol.
"We also seized 2.3kg of syabu and a car which was used by the syndicate in their operations," he said in a statement Tuesday (June 16).
He said the seizures were worth at least RM350,000.
"The suspects have been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations of drug trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
"We are also investigating where they acquired the firearms," he said, adding that this was being investigated under Section 8 of the Weapons Act 1960.
He said investigations revealed the drugs were meant to be sold around the Klang Valley area.
"Our investigations revealed the suspects bought the firearms through an online transaction," he said.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Petaling Jaya police have arrested four men and seized 460g of heroin.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they raided a long house at Petaling Utama, PJS 1/52, at around 5.30pm on Monday (June 15).
"We arrested four men aged between 28 and 30 sitting in front of a barn near there.
"We checked the barn and found a packet containing 460g of a substance believed to be heroin," he said in a statement Tuesday.
He added that three of the suspects have criminal records for drug-related crimes.
He said the suspects have been remanded for seven days to facilitate further investigations.
