KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested five more people on suspicion of forging Covid-19 test results.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim (pic) said the five foreign men, aged between 26 and 30, were arrested at Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin at around 11pm on Tuesday (June 9) for forging documents that declare a person free of the disease.

"All of them are labourers attached with a construction company in Kuala Lumpur.

"We also seized several items, including five mobile phones and a copy of a Covid-19 test result with the words 'Lablink Medical Laboratory' stated on it," he said.

Police had previously arrested two foreign men on June 6 for the same offence.

Meanwhile, Comm Mazlan said police received three more document forgery reports on June 9 and 10 from health facilities that believe their names might have been used to issue false Covid-19 results.

"The hospitals and laboratories received calls and e-mails from employers requesting that they validate Covid-19 test results.

"But when they checked, they noticed the given patient's name was not in their records, and that the doctor who supposedly conducted the screening did not work at that particular hospital or laboratory," he said.

Police are continuing to investigate the case and tracking down more suspects under "Op Pemalsuan Dokumen".
