GEORGE TOWN: Anglers have returned to their favourite spot at the Esplanade here, saying how much they have missed it.
Koay Hong Peng, 59, who has been shore fishing for over 20 years, was happy that he could fish again.
“This activity makes me feel carefree, and it is my favourite hobby.
“Being able to shore fish again just makes me feel fulfilled and indulged as I am a retired man, ” he said.
Another retiree, David Goh, 58, was relieved that he could enjoy the scenery outdoors while waiting for a catch once again.
“It has been boring at home for the past few weeks as all I do is sit and watch television, sleep and eat.
“Returning to fishing once again is a pleasant change, ” he said.
Penang Angling Association chairman Yeap Wee Liang said more than half of its 200-plus members returned to shore and boat fishing.
“We have over 100 active members who are now more than happy to be able to enjoy outdoor fishing again.
“Many are content that they are allowed to go fishing, while some are hopeful that one day they can resume group fishing, ” he said.
