KAJANG: Six drivers were found to had been intoxicated after they were stopped at roadblocks against drink driving.
Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari'at, when met at a roadblock on Jalan Balakong on Saturday night (June 6), said that three were caught at the roadblock here and three more were apprehended at a similar roadblock in south Klang.
A seventh person, a woman, was also arrested at the roadblock here for preventing a policeman from discharging his duty.
“We have brought them back to the respective police headquarters.
“Another test will then be conducted on those found drink driving to confirm it. Then investigation papers will be opened, ” he said.
He added that current state-level statistics showed that 57 arrests have been made in 10 operations.
“This is almost the amount of those arrested in 2018 (62 arrested), and more than 2019 (47 arrested), ” he said.
Supt Azman also urged all to be responsible on the road.
“We are not preventing people from drinking. However, there are so many services available to you nowadays. You can easily call for a taxi or Grab (to drive you back).
“There is a need to have a habit of personal responsibility and to others, ” he said.
