Tawau rangers capture marauding pygmy elephant

KOTA KINABALU: A bull Bornean pygmy elephant that had been marauding farms at Felda Umas Umas in the east coast district of Tawau has been captured.The beast was caught by wildlife rangers at 4.30pm on Tuesday, a week after villagers lodged a complaint.

Tawau Wildlife Department officer Sailun Aris said the elephant would be moved to a forest area far away from the oil palm plantations.
