MELAKA: Restaurateurs and hoteliers here are allowed to provide dining in starting tomorrow.
Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali said the decision followed the significant reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases in Melaka over the past few weeks.
He said the decision was also a “gift” to restaurateurs and hoteliers in conjunction with the swearing-in of the new Yang di-Pertua Negeri.Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam (pic) will take the oath as the seventh Yang di-Pertua Negeri tomorrow.
“The move is also aimed at helping owners generate revenue, ” Sulaiman said yesterday.
He added that while all restaurants, food courts, hawker centres and hotel cafes were allowed to provide dine-in, buffets in hotels were still banned.
He said eateries could only operate until 10pm during the movement control order period.
“All eateries must adhere to the guidelines set by health authorities, including ensuring strict social distancing, ” he said.
Sulaiman added that permission for roadside hawkers and food truck operators to continue with only take-away and delivery services remained.
