PETALING JAYA: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (pic) has no right to speak as Armada chief, or use Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) name, as his membership has been nullified, says Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister expressed regret that Syed Saddiq had called a press conference on Sunday (May 31) in the name of Armada Bersatu Malaysia.

Wan Fayhsal, who is Syed Saddiq's former aide, is contesting the post of Armada chief at the party's inaugural polls.

"Syed Saddiq is free to move on with any other registered organisation he chooses.

"However, he has no right to use the name Armada or Bersatu for any purpose, especially in his continuous attempts to interfere in party matters and spew various allegations," Wan Fayhsal said in a statement Monday (June 1).

It was reported that a group of 236 Bersatu Youth members have urged the party's leadership to hold an emergency general meeting (EGM) to allow party delegates to vote on several issues plaguing Bersatu.

The group, led by Muar MP Syed Saddiq, whose party membership was withdrawn under controversial circumstances on May 28, urged that the party grassroots should be allowed to make decisions for the party.

Wan Fayhsal reiterated that Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin had explained in detail that the membership of Syed Saddiq, along with four other former members including former chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had been automatically terminated through their own actions for acting against the party constitution.

"Therefore, Syed Saddiq is no longer the Armada chief. It is also important to stress that the party's top leadership, as well as the respective Armada and Srikandi wings, has expressed full support towards the leadership of party president and acting chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," the senator added.

Bersatu as a political organisation, he said, would protect the good name and the harmonious environment in the organisation.

"The current Bersatu leadership will not allow anyone to threaten this big family," he said.

"The move made by Muhyiddin was to strengthen and stabilise the position of Bersatu and the Perikatan Nasional government," Wan Fayhsal said.
