KLANG: An aide to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari denied a report that a clandestine meeting was held at the Selangor Mentri Besar’s official residence with two federal ministers.
Amirudin’s political secretary Borhan Aman Shah said he was baffled by the speculation that the state government was close to collapse.
“We never had a meeting as alleged (in the report).
“We did have a meeting but it was between the Mentri Besar and Health Minister Adham Baba, which was also attended by Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (Selangor exco in charge of health), to discuss the Covid-19 situation in Selangor,’’ said Borhan.
The meeting, he said, was attended by Health Ministry and state health department officers as well.
Borhan, who is also Tanjong Sepat assemblyman, was commenting on a recent report by a news portal that the Selangor government was on the verge of collapse.
The portal reported that a clandestine meeting took place at the Mentri Besar’s official residence between Amirudin, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
Speculation of a state government collapse in Selangor comes on the heels of the ousting of Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir from the Kedah Mentri Besar post earlier this month.
“We deny there was a meeting between the Mentri Besar with Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin,’’ said Borhan.
All eyes have been on Amirudin after the collapse of the federal government, given that he is Azmin’s protege in PKR.
PKR women chief, Lembah Jaya assemblyman and Selangor state exco member Haniza Talha was also suspended for meeting Azmin.
