Seven foreign women among 10 arrested in anti-vice raids

PETALING JAYA: A total of 10 people, including seven foreign women, were detained in separate anti-vice raids.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said in the first operation at a premises in Damansara Utama on Thursday (May 28), five foreign women and three local men were detained.

"Two of the men were customers of the premises, while the other is the caretaker.

"The foreign women were hiding in a room during the raid but we managed to track them down. They were workers at the outlet," he said when contacted on Friday (May 29).

Police personnel also seized several items believed to be used for prostitution, including condoms and lubricants, he added.

In another operation, two foreign women, aged 18 and 31, were detained following a raid at a premises in Dataran Pelangi Utama, Kampung Sungai Ara on Thursday, ACP Nik Ezanee said.

"The women were attempting to flee the scene when the raiding team managed to arrest them.

"Both women are being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act," he said.

Several items believed to be used for prostitution were also seized, including 63 condoms, lubricants, two towels and a two mobile phones, he added.

"We will investigate the matter further," ACP Nik Ezanee said.
