Babies and kids among those held

MELAKA: Three babies and six children under 12 were among those dragged to the Melaka Tengah police station for violating the conditional movement control order (MCO).

The children were spared from any action due to their age, but their parents are facing the music for being irresponsible.

Melaka CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Nor Yhazid said the case involving the nine children was registered on May 26 and their parents had now been counted as among the 151 individuals who were issued compounds by police between May 23 and 27.

“Another 22 were also arrested from May 24-27, including six women, for violating the conditional MCO, ” he said yesterday.

ACP Mohd Nor said 14 foreigners were also held during the same period and all of them were currently under remand.

“The foreigners were detained at roadblocks in various locations, ” he said, adding that the latest arrests were made on Wednesday when seven individuals were caught loitering at a shopping mall here.
