KLANG: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s aide has dismissed allegations that his boss had had a secret meeting with two Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leaders at his official residence.
His political secretary Borhan Aman Shah said that there was no meeting between Amirudin, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
There was indeed a meeting at the Mentri Besar’s official residence, said Borhan, but it was between Amirudin, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Selangor health committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Selangor.
“Apart from that, the discussion also touched on the cooperation between the Selangor state government and the Health Ministry in the implementation of the new normal post-movement control order (MCO)," said Borhan, who is also Tanjong Sepat assemblyman.
He added that the meeting was also attended by Health Ministry and state health department officers.
“We strongly deny that there was a clandestine meeting between the Mentri Besar, Azmin and Hamzah," said Borhan.
A news portal had reported that a secret meeting had transpired between the trio and there was speculation that the Selangor state government was on the verge of collapse.
All eyes have been on Amirudin after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan federal government, given that he is Azmin’s protégé.
The Mentri Besar had then pledged that he would remain true to PKR and Pakatan.
However, at least 10 of the 19 PKR assemblymen in Selangor are believed to be Azmin loyalists.
PKR women chief Haniza Talha, who is also Lembah Jaya assemblyman and Selangor state executive councilor, was suspended recently by PKR for meeting Azmin and her fate is yet to be known.
