GEORGE TOWN: Residents in Taman Alor Vista apartments in Relau found the body of an 80-year-old woman on a concrete slab in the morning.
The deceased is believed to have fallen to her death from the 18th-floor balcony of her unit.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the woman was last seen before midnight on Monday (May 25).
Her body was spotted around 8am on Tuesday (May 26).
"She is a single mother living with her son in a unit at the apartments. The man said he last saw the woman at home at about 11.30pm before he went to bed. He was alerted by neighbours of the incident the next morning," said ACP Soffian.
He said that according to the man, the woman never revealed her problems or health issues to him, and she was not in debt.
Police found a pair of slippers near the balcony of the 18th-floor unit, he added.
"There were no signs of scuffling or suspicious signs at the scene. The incident was not recorded on CCTV and no eyewitnesses saw it happen.Checks on the woman's body found no elements of foul play," said ACP Soffian.
The case has been classified as a sudden death.
