SIBU: A man who is supposed to be under 14-day quarantine in his home, daringly defied the order by going out to Sibujaya to have a plate of noodles.

The 27-year-old man, who works as a site supervisor in Kuala Lumpur, even proudly posted a photo of him on his Facebook account, showing him enjoying his meal at a coffee shop in Sibujaya.

As a person under quarantine, he was also seen wearing a wristband.

When he realised that the police were looking for him, he surrendered himself at Sibujaya police station on Monday (May 25) morning.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the man had arrived here on May 17 from Kuala Lumpur, where he had been ordered by the Health Ministry to be placed under quarantine for Covid-19 in a hotel for a day before continuing it in his home until May 30.

"However, he went out to have breakfast in a coffee shop in Sibujaya. He had also posted a photo of him enjoying his meal," he said.

ACP Stanley said the police had referred the man to the Health Ministry for further action.
