SIBU: A college student who was undergoing a 14-day quarantine at her home in Belawai, about 70 from here, has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 20-year-old woman, who is studying at a college in Kuching, was ordered to be home quarantined from May 12 to 25.

All students who returned to their hometowns during the conditional movement control order (MCO) have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

However, on May 24, test results from a swab taken found that she was positive for the virus.

It is learnt that she had also removed her quarantine wristband and the Health Department is now tracing those who might have come into contact with her.

Sarikei OCPD Deputy Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang confirmed the case and said the police went to the woman's home in Belawai at 6pm on Sunday (May 24) and she was taken to Sibu Hospital in an ambulance for treatment.
