PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has said that all 35 government officers, including Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who attended a post-cabinet meeting on May 20, have tested negative for Covid-19.

They were tested, as the meeting was also attended by a government official who was confirmed to be positive for the disease.

The officer has since been brought to hospital for treatment.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that all those who attended the meeting had to be isolated, even though they tested negative as a precautionary measure.

“We have advised them, and hopefully all 35 members will self-quarantine at home for 14 days. On the 13th day, we will repeat the swab test again and if its negative, they can return to work, ” he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing this afternoon (May 23).

Dr Noor Hisham also said they would test the family members of the officer for the disease.

He added that the officer had symptoms of the disease when he attended the meeting, but he had been wearing a mask.

“By wearing the mask, he has reduced the chances of spreading the virus to others, ” he said.

Muhyiddin went for a Covid-19 screening earlier Friday morning (May 22), and tested negative.

Dr Noor Hisham also said they have detected a total of 23 Covid-19 cases in 267 old folks homes around the country.

Out of a total of 9,122 samples taken, 13 were detected among the residents, while ten were among staff of the homes.

Dr Noor Hisham said that out of all 21 cases, only 3 of them displayed any symptoms of the disease.
