Man denies showing obscene gesture to female delivery rider

PETALING JAYA: A man in a viral video showing him making an obscene gesture and kicking a food delivery rider was charged in a Magistrate’s Court here.

Hii King, 61, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before magistrate Mohamad Ikhwan Mohamad Nasir yesterday.

In the first count, Hii, a pensioner, was charged with allegedly kicking and injuring Shazleen Shazmi, 26, at Bandar Puteri, Puchong, at 4.10pm on May 18.

The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction.

In the second charge, he was alleged to have outraged her modesty by showing her a middle finger at the same place, date and time.

Under Section 509 of the Penal Code, the charge provides for up to five years’ jail or a fine or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Hakim Amir Abdul Hamid offered bail for the accused at RM6,000 for both charges and prohibited the accused from approaching or harassing the victim, as well as other prosecution witnesses.Lawyer Lim Tien Loong, representing the accused, appealed for a lower bail on the grounds that his client was a pensioner and had three children.

The court set bail at RM4,000 for both charges with additional conditions that the accused must not approach or disturb the victim and prosecution witnesses.

Mohamad Ikhwan fixed June 16 for mention. — Bernama
