PUTRAJAYA: The country reported 47 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 18), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 6,941.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the 47 new cases, 21 were imported while 26 were local transmissions.
Of the local transmissions, 17 cases were detected among foreigners.
Dr Noor Hisham also said that 44 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour span, which means 5,615 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.
He said the Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 80.9% out of the total number of positive cases.
There are still 1,213 active cases of the disease.
"There are 13 positive Covid-19 cases being treated in intensive care units (ICU), and of that total, six need ventilator support," he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing on Monday (May 18).
Dr Noor Hisham also said there were no new deaths recorded.
The death toll remains at 113.
